So, what makes Black Myth: Wukong special? what makes it a contender for Game of the Year?

Excitement Story

Black Myth: Wukong didn't only focus on gameplay like most soul-like games, but they also wrote a good story based on Journey to the West, one of China's great classical novels. It is a beautiful story about enlightenment. So, you will play an amazing game while enjoying the Chinese atmosphere around you.

Generous Mechanics

It has a lot of well-developed mechanics like parry, dodging, shrines/bonfires, and amazing gear.

starting with Parry There is no direct blocking or parry system in this game, but you can spend your "mana" to use skills or spells that have a similar effect, like the Stone Solid skill.

On the other hand, you can only dodge three times in succession; wukong covers some distance with those dodges, and while the perfect dodge doesn't seem as generous, it definitely won't be easy to die.

shrines/bonfires the player can use these to teleport between them across maps. From these shrines, you will also be able to level up your skills, rest, etc.

Last but not least, collecting armor sets will have different stats and provide set bonuses. The same holds true with weapons.

My favorite part of any Soulslike game is the bosses. I love the difficulty and the variation, and this game offers a really decent amount of experience with 80+ bosses and over 160 enemy types.

Any good game needs advertising, starting with a very nice community that is hyped for the game and how friendly they are. Also, this game is one of the top sellers on Steam. If they delivered the perfect gameplay and satisfied the expectations, why do we not see it as the next game of the year or even hits like Elder Ring in the gaming market?
