Survival games are one of the most loved genres among gamers. In these games, you spawn like a champ, eat like a wild animal, drink like you've never seen water in your life, and build a home worthy of an architecture award. Now most of the good survival games are sadly paid, but there are a couple worth playing for free, which I looted from the Steam Library.
Once Human is a multiplayer open-world survival game set in a strange, post-apocalyptic future with massive active players of around 100,000. Gameplay does a lot of cool things. The world is fun to explore. The combat plays like division or outriders. The loot system is fun. The base building is good and fun. I like that it gives you resources pretty easy so the crafting grind is much less than in most typical crafting games.

Will To Live is a MMORPG shooter where you engage in fights with mutants and other survivors. It's very similar to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The game world is divided into zones with varying danger levels and resource richness. Survival involves combat exploration and interacting with other players, either cooperatively or competitively.

Stay Out is similar to DayZ, where players must explore abandoned cities, gather resources, build shelters, and defend against mutants and other players. The game's unique feature is the anomaly system, which introduces elements of uncertainty and danger into each expedition.

Dead Frontier 2 is a survival horror MMO. As one of the few survivors of the outbreak, you must scratch a living out of the decaying ruins of society. Scavenge for supplies, improve your skills, and trade with other players. All the while, keep your eyes peeled for the infected lurking around every corner. It's similar to 7 days to die.
